1. IGFA Rules apply for the Maine State record grand prize, Tournament Calcutta and when submitting fish for Tournament Catch & Release, with the exception for vessels fishing in the HMS General Category Tuna. HMS General Category Tuna vessels follow HMS General Category Rules.

2. General Category Rules apply with the following exceptions:

*No Electric Harpoons

*No airplanes allowed; and

*All Atlantic Bluefin Tuna (ABT) are to be hooked, fought and brought to boat side by manually operated rod and reel or handline only. Power driven reels or devices of any kind are prohibited. This includes, but not limited to, motor, hydraulic, or electrically drive devices.

3. Rules are available on-line at IGFA.ORG. A copy of the IGFA rules will also be in the Captain's bag to be handed out at the Captain's Meeting on Thursday, August 18, 2011. All participants are responsible for the information and rules reviewed at the Captain's Meeting and with the hard copy included in the Captain's bag. The Captain's Meeting starts at 5:00pm. It is MANDATORY that a representative from a registered boat be present at the Captain's Meeting and be logged in by 7:00p.

4. All fish weighed for the State record prize contribution must be caught by a registered fisherman, fishing from a registered boat. This is a Boat Tournament and the Names of all persons fishing from a registered boat must be supplied to Tournament officials at the Captain's Meeting. NOTE: Only 4 Anglers per Day please.

5. Fishing boundaries are within 50 NM from the Portland, Maine LNB. Latitude 4307 242 N - Longitude 070 24 018 W.

6. For Catch and Release awards, the Shark is considered caught when the leader is being hand-held or brought to the rod tip and the leader is cut within Six (6) Feet of the shark.

7. CATCH AND RELEASE AFFIDAVITS - Affidavits must be submitted by one hour after the close of scales each day. The original affidavits must be presented at the awards ceremony on Saturday evening by 6p when the scales close.

8. In order to be eligible for awards, prizes and Calcutta, a fish must be caught legally under all State and Federal regulations.

9. No BLUE SHARK. Calcutta. MAKO - THRESHER OR PORBEAGLE must have a minimum curved fork length of Six (6) Feet in order to count for score towards Calcutta.

10. Fishing Hours are set by local GPS time.

11. SCHEDULE:

DAY ONE - Friday, August 19th

Lines and chum in water at 6:30am

Lines out at 5pm**

Scales open a 3pm and close at 7:30pm**

DAY TWO - Saturday, August 20th

Lines and chum in the water at 6:30am**

Lines out at 3:30pm

Scales open at 3pm and close at 5:30pm

** Does not apply to Captains fishing the General Category - Tuna

A boat hooked up prior to lines out time must announce on VHF Channel 71 - that they have hooked up and now they have until 8p when the scales close to weigh or release the fish. The results of that hook up, whether the fish is boated, tagged and released or lost must be announced on VHF Channel 71.

ALL BOATS (NON-TUNA) MUST RETURN TO PORT BY 8:30PM ON DAY ONE.

NO OVERNIGHT TRIPS ARE ALLOWED. If you hook up prior to 3:30p on DAY TWO - you can still fight the fish after making an announcement on VHF - CHANNEL.. BUT YOU MUST HAVE ROUNDED SPRING POINT LEDGE LIGHT NO LATER THAN 5:30PM as the scales close at this time.

12. All Tournament Rules Committee decisions are final. There are no refunds.

13. All Fish weighed for PRIZE consideration must be caught from a Tournament Registered Boat. In the event of a mechanical failure, participants may fish from another vessel. The tournament Committee must be advised in writing of the vessel change.

14. Sportsman-like conduct ashore and afloat is required of all participants and their guests.

15. Any registered Boat that is reported passing through a competitor's chum slick within 300 yards of that Boat more than twice may be subject to disqualifications by the Tournament Committee.

16. There is no Weather Committee and the decision to fish is left to the participants who do so at their own risk. Traveling out on the ocean in seasonal conditions which are subject to constant change and engaging in a Fishing Tournament which requires movement and exposure to the conditions is an inherently dangerous activity that could result in severe injury and/or death. All participants knowingly and willingly accept these risks. Participants represent that they are in good health sufficient to withstand the rigorous nature of this activity and are knowledgeable about safe fishing practice and boat safety.

17. All REGISTERED BOATS must fly the TOURNAMENT FLAG (included in Captain's bag).
